WHY I DONT BUY MAP PACKS
i dont post topics here often actually but so i can stop being asked da same question im a tell you why i dont buy map packs im not payin any developer $10 for a unlock key to maps that were already in the game they can kick rocks they not foolin me every map pack you buy for cod4 codw@w killzone 2 were in the single player campaign they not new i payed you $60 for your game and you wana screw me for $6 or $10 more dollars to unlock something you already developed nah not for me thats a damn rip off its like me tippin a mcdonald's employee for takin my order its thier job they didn't go out of there way to do it if it was brand new maps id have no problem payin but why pay you for what you already did its like you pay for a car it has a stereo already in it but to use it i have to pay $ wtf is that the only map pack i ever brought was killzone originals because time was taken to next gen upgrade them and they were not single player levels so ill pay 4 that but the other two can kick rocks

I agree. It's disgusting and i will not do it. It has become a fad with developers. As long as people buy it, they will continue to leave out the content to rip people off at a later date.

You do realize the maps are completely different from the single player and multiplayer. The only thing similar is the theme. It not like they cut the whole map out and remove the AI bots. The games you mentioned COD and KZ2 don't have the DLC multiplayer maps on the disc. The only game to put DLC on the disc and ask people to pay for it has been Resident Evil 5 who had people pay for an unlock code.
So it not like the multilayer maps are on the disc already and we downloading the unlock key. A lot of effort has to go in to making a campaign level into a multiplayer map. Some people actually think it is an easy 1,2,3 step that takes a couple of minutes and they are dead wrong.

I agree 2, But just wait till COD:MW2 drops, activision has already confirmed that they have done 2 map packs already, EA is just as bad, Tiger woods Golf and now Madden 10 had download content available as soon as the games where released..
All this has really made me consider game sharin with my pal.

Madden 10 and Ncaa 10 and TW 10 had DLC before the game was relased it was ridiculous

sorry mjc but u r wrong well ur half right u r right that they r not exactly the same but u r wrong that alot of effort was put into them like u said its already a level all the killzone and call of duty developers did was carve out a section for online they already had those maps carved out when the game release they just put on some bs story about how they designed them there lying map packs r purposely left out i believe there dl keys i dnt buy that thats anything more than a unlock key do you think they would waste time going back to edit already made levels 4 online when they can kill all birds in 1 shot i bet u infinity ward has already carved every campaign level into a map they just gonna hold 4 3-5 months after release and say hey we just made these give us ten more dollars for not being creative and makin new maps and we'll give u a unlock key full of wishwash data so u'll believe u actually dl sumthin big and we'll hold the last 4 levels till bout summer bye its bs they playin gamers

They have to do it that way. Yea they pre plan and hold stuff back because they have too especially now a days. It is just business. Because say they add the 6 maps on the disc with the original 8 from the start people will than bitch that they don't support the game with DLC. SO for them to look good they have to come out with it DLC.
And seriously the online maps and their single campaign level are completely different there are so many more elements involved with online that need to be worked and also some single player details that cant fit online. COD and KZ2 maps aren't on the disc they are not an unlock key. Your view is the just throw online in the single player level and say cool we done. And that is false.
Their have been games where DLC is just an unlock code like Re5 and those EA games that have day 1 DLC or DLC within weeks of release and that is bullshit. Also look at the size if it small you got an unlock code if it big that no an unlock code.
One thing people should bitch about tis this new trend of cheat codes being aid for DLC. Unlock everything should be a code not DLC. Or the famous hurry up DLC like unlock clothes(SF4 LBP)

and they arent any diffrent every kz map cept originals u have ran by that same section b4 in the they just carved the piece out and make it linear so u cnt run though it
i mean if u buy madden10 and u hav all teams all fields in single player and 4 online u had to pay $10 to unlock 8 fields at a time untill you unlock all 32 ppl would be pissed off and not play map packs r just as much a rip off as that would be

i bought the K2 map packs because A) i love Killzone & B) i support GG and Sony's exclusives. to hell with everything else's DLC. it is a ripoff, but not when it's something awesome. i mean that money i spent on K2's map packs just makes Killzone 3 that much closer. :)

Wow this is crazy. but hey every one is has different ideas.
but the only game i feel thats a rip off is Resident Evil 5. thats the only game in which you dl a key and to top that you can't back up your save data..
but Killzone 2 maps where rebuilted to go with the muiltplayer of the game. thats how i feel.
